Year 5 - Mrs Lawrence & Mrs Paton

We have been practicing colour mixing with water colours so that we can recreate the work of War Artist Eric William Ravilious..

Evacuee Day. A big thank you to all our parents for supporting the children in making their wonderful World War 2 evacuee costumes and accessories.

Investigating Saturation in Science

In computing, we have learnt how to programme crumbles so that the sparkle flashes different colours.

Sharing stories of heroism and bravery from our ancestors.

A fantastic time was had by all on our trip to Haven Banks on Wednesday 2nd November.  The children conducted themselves in an exemplary manner at all times and were wonderful ambassadors for our school. We were all proud to see them having a go at the various activities, not to mention the support they showed towards each other throughout the day.

We have had a wonderful start to Year 5!  The children have all settled in well and are enjoying our many learning opportunities.

We spent some time speaking about and showing respect for our former monarch, Queen Elizabeth.

As part of our learning about the Industrial Revolution, we learnt about John Heathcoat and how his work impacted Tiverton as it is today.

We learnt more about Isambard Kingdom Brunel, in particular how he designed and built the Halberton Aqueduct.  We discussed why this was a necessary piece of architecture at the time it was built.

Our learning about British Values is woven into all our other learning.  We discussed how Charles Dickens set up a charity for women during the Industrial Revolution.  Which of our values does this link to?
